Pillar 02 · Brand + Design

Your brand shouldn’t depend on who built the deck.

One set of words and one set of visuals, installed where your team actually works, so the deck built at 11pm still sounds like you. We build the messaging and design system from our Sydney studio, then embed it in your tools, for teams across Australia.

Ring any bells?

Growth pulls brands apart one deck, one channel, one shortcut at a time.

Sales, CS and marketing each tweak the story for their own needs, so no two audiences hear the same company, and leadership sees three versions of it.
You’ve invested in brand, but the teams still aren’t aligned on how to talk about what you do. The guidelines exist; nobody opens them.
Every team runs its own deck, one-pager and Canva kit, so the brand shows up slightly differently in every channel: close enough to pass, off enough to erode.
The rebrand looked great for a month. Then deadlines hit, the old templates crept back, and the new identity became a launch memory.

What do you actually get?

Words, visuals and worked examples: one system your team actually uses.

01

Verbal identity

Tone, vocabulary and the key messages per audience: what you say, what you never say, and how it flexes from LinkedIn to a proposal.

02

Design system

Colour, type, layout and componentry defined as one system with many expressions, built to survive contact with real deadlines.

03

Worked examples

Real artefacts done right: a deck, a one-pager, a campaign, an email. Nobody has to interpret the rules from first principles.

04

Live templates

The system installed in the tools your team uses daily, not exported to a PDF. Components and starters people reach for by default.

05

The rules that matter

A short, opinionated set of do-and-don’t calls: the ten decisions that keep everything coherent, instead of a 90-page manual.

06

Rules that don’t need a referee

Who approves what, and what needs no approval at all. Consistency by design, not by one exhausted brand guardian.

The process

How does it work?

Every engagement opens with the Review. We work with your in-house team, not around them: they help build the system they’ll be running.

01

The Review

60–90 minutes across your brand, messaging and channels. You see exactly where the versions of your story diverge.

02

Audit & discovery

We gather every deck, page and template your teams actually use, and map where the words and visuals drift. The distance is the scope.

03

System build

Verbal identity and design system drafted together, tested on your hardest real artefacts, then locked as one source of truth.

04

Enablement & handover

Templates land in your tools, your team gets trained on the system, and the old files get retired. Consistency becomes the path of least resistance.

Still in daily use.

Zembl’s email design system and Beanrunner’s brand build, both still running long after handover.

Working with Lobos has been a game‑changer for Beanrunner. They helped us develop a clear, memorable brand, including our tagline ‘How you bean’, along with a comms strategy that actually speaks to both roasters and coffee lovers. The sales collateral they created has made it much easier to explain our value and bring new coffee roasters onto the marketplace with confidence, instead of reinventing the pitch every time.

Fair questions.

What teams ask before committing to a messaging and design system.

What is a messaging and design system?

It’s your brand as a working system rather than a set of guidelines: the words (tone, vocabulary, key messages), the visuals (colour, type, layout, components) and worked examples of both, installed in the tools your team uses. One system, many expressions, so every output looks and sounds like the same company.

Do we need a full rebrand first?

Usually not. Most engagements tighten and systematise the brand you already have, with clear links to what your market knows, so customers don’t feel whiplash. If the identity genuinely can’t stretch to where the business has grown, we’ll say so, and evolve it in stages you can budget for.

Which tools does the system live in?

The ones your team already runs: typically Figma for the source of truth, with templates in Canva, Google Slides or PowerPoint, and modules in your email and web platforms. The system is baked into the stack, not sitting beside it as a PDF.

How long does it take?

Most messaging and design system builds run 8–12 weeks through fixed-price phases: audit and discovery, system build, then enablement and handover. Scope grows with the number of channels and teams in play.

What does it cost?

It starts with the Review: a small fee, credited toward the work. Core system builds run as fixed-price phases from low five figures (minimum $10k AUD) to six figures depending on channels, teams and how much identity work is needed.

One system · four ways in

Messaging & Design Systems decides how the company looks and sounds. The other pillars decide what you sell, how customers move, and how your team keeps it all running.

Hearing three versions of your own story?

The Review finds where it splits.

Bring your three most-used decks and pages. The Review reads them side by side, shows exactly where the story splits, and names what to fix first. The fee comes off your engagement if you go ahead.
